Prior to this semester I had never been very artistically gifted, and to this day I am still not. However, before this semester I was very focused on making sure all of my projects looked perfect. Now I focus more on expressing how I feel on the paper. Art isn't about painting the perfect picture, and it doesn't have to look good to be good. Art is just a great way to express yourself and I'm glad I learned that this semester.
When it comes to other things I've learned I can talk about water color. I learned ways to make the colors blend together just right to make new colors. I also learned how to use my brush better so the lines don't go all over the place. This also applies with actual paint. I really enjoyed the banner project, it definitely made me become a better painter.
Furthermore, I learned how to work with clay much better than I did my freshman year. Clay is honestly my favorite thing to do in art, even though it does frustrate me quite a bit. I loved learning how to place slabs together and how to make them stay together.
The skills I improved on are the things I just spoke about. Learning how to blend colors. Learning how to make clay slabs stick and form. But most importantly my confidence has improved when it comes to art. When assigned a project it used to be so hard for me to come up with and idea, but now I just let the lines flow into whatever it turns into.
My favorite project was definitely the banner project. I think this was my favorite because I never thought my picture would even be chosen. Also because I got to paint the picture however I wanted and make it my own.
