How in the world do Sally and Silas not know that Huck and Tom are the ones who rescued Jim? I mean why else would the two boys disappear the same night that Jim escaped? Also, why in the world would Tom admit to rescuing Jim? This kid just always has to be the center of attention and must want to get into trouble. Finally, why would Sally, Silas, and Polly treat Jim so well after him being freed? He did help nurse Tom but he is still a black man in a white mans world and it just surprises me that they treated him so well.
What I got out of the end of this book is what I was thinking all along. Tom is a no good kid that could have made this whole situation much easier. The fact that he didn't let everyone know that Jim was free sooner sickens me. Miss Watson died two months before all of this and he didn't think it was important to at least mention it? That's just plain ridiculous.
However, I did like the ending to this book. I wasn't expecting a happy ending. I thought for sure that Tom would ruin everything and end up getting Huck killed. But I am sure glad that didn't happen. I think that someone should write another book like this though. Even though no one could do as good a job as Mark Twain did, I would still like to read more adventures about Huck.
