My main question about these chapters is why wasn't Huck rescued long before he escaped? The book said someone came looking for him but pap chased him off with a gun. So if they knew where he was at why didn't they send more people to look for him? Also, when Huck escaped and they came looking for him why didn't they get off the ferry and look for him on the island? They know that Huck is a little trickster, so why wouldn't they assume that maybe he faked the murder?
One take away I get from this book is that it isn't very logical. The widow would have also sent out a search party for Jim by now, and I'm sure they would have checked the island. Or, maybe the characters just don't have a lot of common sense. That's what I get out of this though. For example, if Huck and Jim don't want to get caught then they need to get off that island and move on. The biggest question I have about these chapters though is how did Jim live after being bit by a rattle snake? I'm pretty sure the whiskey wouldn't cure that. I do like how the chapters are starting the get more exciting though. I can't wait to read on and see what happens next!
