The equation X^y* X^z= X^yz is sometimes true because usually you would add the two exponents but there is a time when you can multiply the exponents and get the same answer. For example, if you use 2 for both exponents 2+2=4 and 2*2=4 as well. X^2*X^2= X^2+2 or X^2*2.
